Tim Stokes describing geological features in Departure Bay 

 

Dr Tim Stokes led members on a walk in Departure Bay with stops to illustrate features of the geology.  He is chair of the Earth Sciences Department at VIU and member of the teaching faculty. He gave a program last December which used the Nanaimo Geoscape poster to illustrate features of our local geology.

The walk on July 5th showed us real life examples of our geology. 

 After the walk members hosted Tim for dinner on the patio at Amrikko’s Restaurant.
