By contributing $717,253 to the Annual Programs Fund Rotarians in District 5020 are ensuring that many programs offered through The Rotary Foundation will continue uninterrupted for years to come - and that people less fortunate than ourselves will lead a life of hope and dignity that they otherwise may not have experienced.
With the economic conditions present during 2008-09, Rotarians in District 5020 continued to keep their eye on the ball and realize how it was even more important that we continue to contribute to our Foundation - so much so that we attained 95.2% of the Club Presidents Goals! And in doing so........increased our Annual Programs Fund per capita result to $141.00! Well done to everyone and please pass on my thanks to each and every Rotarian in your club(s). A tremendous achievement in difficult times.

And while Past District Governor Brian has already congratulated everyone on the Polio Challenge results for 2008-09, it must be said again - for 2008-09, you raised $133,239 to bring the total raised by District 5020 since the start of the Challenge December 1, 2007, to.........$256,007! (that number in itself would immunize in excess of 425,000 children with the polio vaccine!).
And finally, I would like to pass on my personal thanks to Annual Programs Fund Chair, Bashir El-Khalafawi, for 3 years of dedicated service to our Foundation - Bashir, you have been a rock and your tireless efforts have been most appreciated.
I will be following the results of District 5020 in my new role as Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator for Zone 25 - I know that the results for 2009-10 will be equally as gratifying under the direction of our new District Rotary Foundation Chair, PDG Brian Beagle and District Governor Alex. Thanks to everyone, have a great year and, most importantly...........HAVE FUN!
Joan Firkins Zone 25 Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator
