Dear Rotary Colleagues, I'm pleased to report the construction of the school is progressing very satisfactorily and we hope it will be open for the students by September 1st.

I've received a few enquiries about Rotarians visiting the school. While Jalalabad is regarded as a fairly safe area, that doesn't necessarily apply to foreigners. When we signed the contract for funding with CIDA, we had to agree to a security clause. The bottom line is that with the exception of PDG Steve Brown and Rotarian Fary Mohini who have been visiting Afghanistan on a regular basis since 2002, Canadian and American Rotarians and staff members at CRCID are prohibited from visiting the school for the time being. Hopefully this will change in the future. But for now we ask that Rotarians respect this special agreement. Please ensure the Rotarians in your clubs are aware of this. Your attention to this is appreciated. WRR PDG Dave Robinson Chair, Canadian Rotary Centennial Committee
